Joe and Storm Desmond is our latest publication launched on 7 December 2016, exactly one year after Storm Desmond struck.
Joe and Storm Desmond is an illustrated story charting a youngster’s experience of the flooding of Carlisle in December 2015 as Storm Desmond struck. Whilst being a fictional story all the details are real. The book has been written by Sue Fox for young persons of about eleven years of age and above. The dramatic graphic illustrations are by Irene Sanderson and the fantastic cover painting of The Approach of the Storm is by Anna McKay.
As for the previous three titles this book has been printed by H & H Reeds Printers, Penrith on fsc paper. The proceeds from the sale of this book are going to CERT (Community Emergency Relief Fund) and to Carlisle Key, a charity for the support of Carlisle youngsters as they progress to independent living.
We are taking Joe and Storm Desmond with our other books Katie and the Floods, Joe and the Window and Joe and the Camera to the Flood EXPO being organised by CERT at Carlisle Racecourse on 2 and 3 February 2017. Joellen Publications has been given a complimentary stall and we will be there for the two days to discuss with visitors the development of resilience for the floods ahead and what we can do to help.
